Pound Brings Drumming to the World of Fitness

There is a new innovative fitness class going on right now but it has opinions split. This new trend, in a series of new ways to get in shape, is called pound. While you may think it sounds like some sort of boxing or MMA program, you couldn’t be further from the truth. What this program is would be a class where you’re surrounded by people who are air drumming. The class will provide you with two drumsticks but the rest of the effort is up to you. I’m not making this up, this is a real fitness class. I don’t know who the person is the came up with this crazy idea but it is starting to gain traction. First, if you were wanting to learn the drums, there are much better ways to do this. Buy a cheap drum set or you can use one of those video game controllers to take some steps to learn how to drum. If you want to exercise, there are about 1 million other ways to do it that would be more beneficial for you. Sitting around with a group of people pretending to drum does not sound like a way that I would want to work out.

Hazards I could think of in this class is what could happen when you have a group of people flailing her arms around holding sticks, what happens if sticks go flying around the room? To me, that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, if someone were to get hit in the face with one of those drumsticks. Also, what body parts are actually being worked out in a pound class? I can imagine the drumsticks are that heavy, so I don’t really see any benefit for your muscles. From what I have seen of this class, it also looks like people are sitting down for a majority of the time. What kind of cardio workout has you sitting down all of the time? I wouldn’t think that it would be possible to really feel the burn while taking one of these classes. I’m sure that they aren’t experiencing any lack of participants for their classes, people are always willing to try the latest thing.

What is the Next Hip Workout Trend?

As a matter of fact, we have actually covered a lot of these new ways to work out. What doesn’t surprise me is how quickly these programs rotate in and out of being fashionable. We could see the future where these pound classes start showing up everywhere but for now, I’m not so convinced.  Already feeling heat from others around the Internet, this new fitness trend doesn’t seem to be making the waves that some thought it would, initially. If you want to be a weekend rockstar, you could really get some enjoyment out of these pound classes. I suppose that I will stick with Rock Band, the video game, when I want to bust out drumsticks and feel like I am the next drum master. The Pound fitness program and starting in California, where it remains to be seen if it will spread to other states. I’m sure that there will be a market for this and that there will be groups of people eager to try this new way of staying fit. Perhaps they should make goggles a requirement, so that no one gets hit by flying drumsticks.

Cardio Exercises for People Avoiding Them

One of the burdens that you can encounter when living a fit lifestyle is when it is time to do cardio. You can hide behind those weights for a while but, eventually you will need to lose extra body fat. I fought it tooth and nail that I would ever get on a cardio machine. After still having some extra fat around my stomach, after lifting weights for years, I thought it might be time to start thinking about adding some cardio to my weekly planner.

  1. Jogging

Before you start groaning, hear me out. Jogging is one of the best ways to drop weight fast. I have seen it so many times, with my family and people that lived nearby me. One of my family members was starting to get really big, it was hard to watch. He knew that he had to stop this cycle from continuing, so he started to walk. At first, he started small and did what he could handle. From there, he started walking for only about thirty minutes, every night of the week. Everyone that knew him left him all kinds of messages about how great he looked. The beam of a smile across his face after hearing all of those compliments was a sight to see. As for the people that lived near me, I watched a man go from an overweight and nerdy type, to an amazing athlete, in about 3 years. Every morning, I would leave my neighborhood and see this man walking. At first, I admired the confidence that he had to start. You see, a lot of things that you want to do in life you can, you just have to find a starting place. Yes, it might be awkward at first. You might not feel like you know what you are doing but that is the point of journey.

  1. Treadmill

One of the best things that I have used to get me through some rough days was to think of a task, like you would a game. If you don’t think that the treadmill is something that you want to do, turn on one of the televisions and zone out. Don’t even take the time to think that you, who hates it, is doing cardio. Turn on your favorite show, listen to an album you haven’t caught up on, and feel great knowing you are dropping some unwanted weight. With the advancements in place, you can actually have it made to be felt like you are walking around on a street.

  1. Bicycling

Standing up isn’t for everyone, it is a lot of work. Sometimes, you just want to sit down while getting the same great post-workout feeling. If the previous two choices aren’t doing much for you, try using a bike at your local gym, you might like the change of pace. Even the bicycles are pieces of machinery that come equipped with music players or television screens. See, there are all kinds of cool things being put in place by some of the smartest people out there to make our workouts enjoyable!

If you start thinking about doing something a bit different to change your shape, use one of these options to make it happen. At the very least, you can say that you tried something new, whether you like it or not will all be up to you.

Does the Average Work-Day Workout Really Bring You Results?

Working Out While At Work: A Mixed Bag

For countless years, many different people have decided that you can get in a great workout during your workday, but how does this really hold up in getting you fit? I want to say that, first and foremost, most of these programs are great for helping you achieve a slight level of success and being more fit. However, if you’re really committed to changing the way that you look, I would suggest getting a gym membership or buying some weights for use in your own home. The usual office workout type program is great, when you can squeeze in the time, but for most people there are two big reasons why I think that getting a gym membership is the better option.

Reason one is that most of us don’t have the average office job portrayed in the scenarios. And in the cases of people that have a lot of work to do every day, we’re probably is probably not going to find a combined hour per workday to do sit ups lunges and other things like that.

Reason two is that although some of these ideas are great on paper, when we actually think about doing them in front of her peers at the office, we become mortified. Sometimes even going to the gym and really giving it your all can draw some strange looks. And you will draw more more of the strange looks if you try some of these things in an actual office surrounded by your work peers.

Even worse, would be the embarrassment if you decided to stop you’re exercising and everyone in the office knew about it. If you wanted to use some of these exercises, I think it would be best to really work on ones where you don’t have to really make a big scene with your workout. Some of the exercises that I do think work really well or ones that can be done while sitting at your desk. We are all going to have a little downtime here in there so it might be best to use that to actually work on your fitness. Some of the exercises that require tightening your abdominal muscles and then letting go are actually great examples of what you can do throughout the day. However I also think that this breeds more and more people who feel that they don’t need to go to the gym because they can get it all done in a workday.

If you are really wanting to build muscle, lose weight, or both I would definitely recommend going with a program that is a little bit more intense. Beginners can always start at the level they feel comfortable but tossing some weights around and actually getting on the treadmill will make for more improvements in your life. Something else that I can’t wrap my head around is why you might feel the need to work out at your office. I feel that a great workout before your office day or after your office day is a great separation of the mind and body that can lead to great workouts.
